Would this be sufficient strength or excessive?
I'm keen on developing a web/mail server. My database will have thousands of users and several websites running on a LEMP Stack Server.
Hopefully, in the future I'll attract thousands of daily visitors per website (around three).
I plan to use an HP EliteDesk 800 G4 mini as my web server with these specifications:
CPU: Intel Core i7-8700 / base 3.2 GHz / Turbo 4.6GHz
RAM: 32GB DDR4-2666
SSD Storage: 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD
Do you think this setup would be sufficient for managing a database with roughly 100,000 subscribers?
I was considering building a NAS Sever to handle all storage needs, perhaps around 20TB over time.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Sure, feel free to ask for more details. The better; the faster I always say kinda... because nothing is overkill in a norm.
The equipment you wish to employ needs revisiting at a few stages. Beginning with the manufacturer’s specified hardware and software needs for the planned web/mail server, websites, database, and possibly a NAS. This still raises many other considerations such as performance expectations. The database will require particular technical resources. Merely tracking the number of subscribers isn’t enough; it’s important to understand data volume per subscriber. The actual usage—reading, writing, querying, reporting—is crucial, especially transactions. If the HP EliteDesk 800 specifications surpass what the manufacturer recommends, that signals a potential issue. For anticipated growth, hardware demands might need adjustment, such as increasing RAM from 32 GB to 64 GB at a certain point. Update your post to detail the software requirements—database type, web tools, server operating system, etc.—alongside the suggested hardware for each component. The same applies to a NAS Server: define clear performance needs and list the OS/software that will run there. Reflect on whether the HP EliteDesk 800 G4 mini meets these demands or if modifications are necessary.
