Would it be wise to upgrade your setup?
My rig currently includes a Ryzen 5 2600, an MSI B350 Tomahawk RTX 2060, 6GB RAM, and an 8X2 2666Mhz Corsair Vengeance LPX. It struggles to handle the RTX 2060 well during games. I’m unsure why. During play it only runs at 3.6-3.7, which is typical but not stable. Main issues: Ryzen requires fast RAM and a Gen 3 CPU would be better than Gen 2. Should I upgrade my motherboard as well? My plan is to switch from 2666Mhz to 3200Mhz RAM on the MSI B450. Is that acceptable?
It seems the system runs slowly. You might not be able to overclock. Consider investing in more RAM and a better motherboard instead. Updating the BIOS to version 7A34v1O or newer could help.
The issue is with my power supply. After upgrading to a 650W unit, the house lights switch off. It might be worth considering it for savings later. For now, I can still use it, though not perfectly.
I believe my RAM might be an issue. Intel seems great for gaming, while Ryzen offers another benefit.
Do you have RAM installed in slots 2 and 4 with XMP support? You might want to attempt an overclock to 3000 and see how it performs. Additionally, consider giving the CPU a slight boost.
It's unlikely to notice much change when switching from 2666 to 3200, just a quick note. I tested this on my 2700x with 2666@cl19 versus 3200@cl14. If you're having power problems at home or in your apartment, it might be worth getting an electrician to inspect the issue and check fuses.
I expected around a 10% boost in frames per second from that change.
It varies by game. Checked against Hitman benchmark – average 1-2 FPS. Hard to tell what's different at the lowest settings.
I struggle to handle the overload. The maximum temperature stays around 72-83, which feels risky. Should I upgrade all my plans for safety?
