It's not surprising at all. The problem with new builders bending or breaking pins has been ongoing for years. Those near a Micro Center likely noticed CPUs with bent pins. In the best scenario, you check your cooler and see the CPU still attached. In the worst case, dropping the CPU can cause pin damage—just a little cooler movement usually fixes it.
