Because the DLC is available at no cost, the season pass on Steam likely offers additional perks or access that aren’t included in the free version.

The developers have repeatedly emphasized that DLC and expansions are distinct offerings. They clarified that small downloads would be offered without requiring long-term commitment or major content releases.

They mention upcoming paid expansions similar to WoW. Expect significant content available for a reasonable cost.

They're referring to additions as material removed from the game and replaced with paid content. They're being dishonest because this is considered DLC.

They’re removing 30 hours of gameplay from the base game? That sounds confusing. If it’s supposed to launch in 2016, why isn’t it out yet? Make sure you have the right information... there are various DLC options, and this one is an expansion with two new campaigns!

Other companies do the same thing, with varying amounts of cut gameplay. At the end of the day this is downloadable content that you have to actually buy. And they said they weren't going to be having DLC.

Some would prefer to halt the practice of inserting vague promises into developer statements, which often fails to address real issues. Many have overlooked the need for genuine engagement in discussions.

CD-PR clearly set apart "DLC" from "Expansion Pack," which surprised many. It seems the announcement sparked some strong reactions, but it’s understandable they’re focused on revenue opportunities. They can now promote these updates on Steam, aligning with their business goals. From a financial perspective, this timing is strategic for generating income.

They mentioned receiving 16 additional downloadable content packs. Not every company can be included in one package. There are numerous distinct DLCs available. For instance: EA - Mass Effect DayOne DLC - Javik the Protean, a character crucial to the narrative that was removed for separate sale (considered poor marketing), Mission DLC, which will introduce one new mission (up to 1-2 hours of extra content), Item DLC, adding a few new items, Character DLC, incorporating a new crew member, Deep Silver - Metro Last Light, offering a new difficulty level, and they claim it aligns with the original design. ...are you taking this seriously? This was clearly excluded from the game. Bohemia Interactive - Arma 3 Zeus DLC is free for all players. Motocars DLC introduces a new vehicle type, with funds directed to charity. Helicopters DLC provides free mechanics for everyone, though payment is required for certain features. Marksman DLC also offers free mechanics, but charges apply for specific weapons. Valve - Half-Life 2 Episode One and Episode Two DLCs are expansions, not cut content. It’s understandable to feel frustrated when later releases are labeled DLCs, but it doesn’t automatically mean everything is flawed. While many DLCs seem to prioritize monetization, there are still valid exceptions. Claiming developers intentionally broke the game to push sales isn’t fair. It simply reflects their roadmap and commitment to supporting the title. Making a living from that is impressive!
