I've recently encountered a frustrating issue that renders my computer nearly inoperable again after the latest Windows update. Periodically, the system behaves as though the Windows key and all modifiers are pressed. Most keys except the Windows key can be released only by pressing the lock screen—pressing delete opens it, since Ctrl+Alt remain engaged. This problem has occurred before on other machines, but every solution I've tried online proves ineffective. I haven't resolved it without a full system reset, which isn't an option here. Initially, I suspected heavy usage from launching Black Desert Recently, though it happened unexpectedly even after a short idle session (less than 15 minutes) with the PC off and no keyboard active (wireless). The issue also impacts the on-screen keyboard and any hotkey scripts I attempt to use. It clearly points to an OS-level problem, though I'm unsure of its exact cause. The only shared software across affected systems is Adobe Creative Cloud and Google Chrome (removing both didn't help).

Specs: Windows 10 (Creators Update), i7-6700K GTX 1070, MSI 2x 1TB 7k RPM drives, Logitech Wireless K360, UTechSmart 8k gaming mouse (or Microsoft Brand wireless portable).

I've tested disabling sleep and superfetch, uninstalled Chrome and Adobe Creative Cloud, turned off Antivirus, and even tried uninstalling Java. No luck so far. I'm sorry if this post seems rushed—I'm leaving now for work but desperately need a fix soon. Hope someone can assist me.

I don’t have a memory of installing Windows 10, but I can guide you through the process if you’d like.

Pressing the Windows key twice quickly resolved the issue. Test it and let me know the outcome.

I installed using the Media Download Tool supplied by Microsoft (I'm a win7-upgrader, however this is a fresh install after a full format). That stops windows key hotkeys from triggering, however it still doesn't allow me to use those keys in applications (for example, I can't type 'c' in google chrome. On top of that I also can't type 'a' in chrome either after this bug because it just does a 'select all'). This is a solution that is always suggested, and it has never worked on any machine for me, makes me jealous.
