Windows XP Professional ISO file format
Windows XP Professional ISO file format
I'm using a 64-bit version of Windows XP on Athlon 64 hardware. The XP version isn't limited to 32-bit systems.
Thanks for the details. I'm just getting started, sorry for the mix-up.
I put it in a VM right away to try it out and it functions well. I allocated 2GB of RAM and 2 CPU cores, and everything seems to be working properly.
I possess several Windows discs from past installations and upgrades where old PCs were donated for destruction after file transfers. Microsoft generally charges $5 per disc without a COA, and I can't provide or trade any of those COAs for the cases I own. As long as the discs are unique and Microsoft permits it, copying them shouldn't be an issue. Legally, backups of software are allowed since licenses apply to the software itself, not just the CDs. Ideally, you should only have one valid backup. Full details can be found on copyright.gov. Regarding copying and sharing, it seems permissible but risky—many downloaded versions include unwanted software, malware, or viruses. Personally, I’d avoid getting ISO files from third parties unless you’re certain they’re safe.
