We need an OEM copy of XP developed by the manufacturer who assembled your machine. If you locate the original XP installation disc (whether your PC came with one), the key should function. Otherwise, it won’t help. I possess an XP Home key on my personal-built desktop—would you like me to forward it?

You can provide the key to test... It’s essentially an XP home premium OEM disc.

Savor your laptop, and if you manage to install an SSD, running XP on one is remarkable (especially when perfectly tuned for SSD performance). On my previous machine, switching from the power switch to the desktop screen happens in under ten seconds.
