You're facing a common choice—Mac or Windows for your video editing needs within a $1,500 budget. For editing, I'd suggest a reliable Windows laptop paired with professional tools like Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve. A decent Mac could work too if you prefer its ecosystem, but it might be pricier. As for software ratings: 9/10 for ease of use and 8/10 for quality—both are solid options depending on your workflow.

If you're searching for a laptop for editing, a Macbook Pro or a Dell XPS 13 would be suitable options. Macs also include the free app iMovie, which is quite useful.

Choose your video editing tool freely. For beginners, iMovie is a great option because it’s quite easy to use.

Consider trying Sony Vegas. If it doesn’t suit you, a Mac might be the better choice. This is just my view. Adobe Premiere also runs on Windows. Final Cut Pro is available only for macOS.
