Hello everyone, I’m looking for a straightforward solution. My old machine used Vista Home Premium, but it crashed after installation. I tried using a Windows 10 bootable drive, but ran into issues with disk partitions. I want to start from scratch by booting Vista via USB, but it seems I need the original Vista disc or OS already installed. This makes me wonder if there’s another way I haven’t considered. Thanks for your assistance!

If you have an ISO for Windows Vista, you can burn it to a USB drive using Rufus. It works well and is reliable. You can also try it with Windows 10 to run it directly from the USB without installing it elsewhere, though Vista might not support that feature.

I neglected Rufus. It's surprising he didn't appear in the top search results, though perhaps many articles on Vista are outdated. I'm going to give it another shot, thanks.

I was really impressed while building a fully functional Windows XP laptop. It surprised me how something like that could still exist today. Now I think about Santa and the Easter Bunny more.
