This concerns how Windows 10 interacts with hardware. I experienced problems after a fresh installation on a new SSD. My system functioned perfectly when upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on the HDD. The machine is an HP P7 1154 with an upgraded PSU, RX 560 GPU, and 12GB RAM. Initially, I planned to move the HDD to the SSD but was blocked because the SSD was smaller. Once I cleaned installed Windows 10, it stopped working properly—after shutdowns, spinning drives, and fans kept running while the GPU stayed on. After switching back to the HDD with the upgraded Windows 10, everything worked fine. Recently, I reinstalled Windows 10 onto the HDD again and faced the same issues as with the SSD. Does this mean a Windows 7 upgrade to 10 behaves differently from a clean install?

It interacts with devices using drivers. Older equipment usually requires outdated drivers. Clearing the installed ones can erase something. This occurred with my 8.1 when I was forced to update because Epic and GoG didn’t work well on it. After updating, Windows 10 functioned with the old drivers but failed to save them. Consequently, my monitor stopped working.

If I manage to add 7 to the SSD, changing it to 10, I could possibly restore a stable operating system.
