It seems today’s Windows update also added a driver for your Corsair keyboard, showing a popup asking you to download their software. I don’t want that. If I wanted the extra features, I’d have installed them myself. The real question is: will this keep happening and can I prevent it from occurring again without installing anything?

It's interesting to see how Corsair achieved this as a driver. Microsoft would likely view it similarly, seeing it as a tool to enhance their platform.

Consider checking the advanced settings for system configuration. It may also help to edit the registry using a policy editor, though compatibility with home versions isn't guaranteed.

I've only used GPO to block them from Windows Update, so I'm not sure how the other methods would work.

This has nothing to do with Windows. The issue involves Corsair providing drivers/software to Windows Update servers for users who install Corsair keyboards. If you dislike a utility from Corsair, go for something else. This update seems linked to the October 2018 Windows release, likely made to ensure stability so you can identify problematic drivers or programs during the update process.

MS certification is expensive and creates frustration in my work. Everyone wants to get the most value from it. A better approach would be with the Win7 update model, not forcing everything onto the user model of Win10. It's about using the right tools, not about RGB settings or extra software.
