I'm setting up a new PC for my office, and everything was installed and working well until the PSU to GPU cable arrived. Once the GPU was installed, the computer wouldn't boot at all. The fans didn’t even spin. To figure out the issue, I tried using the GPU (GTX 1060) in my personal machine. The PC started working properly, and the device manager showed the GTX 1060 as detected. I then tested the cable by swapping it with a new one, but still got no boot. After putting the original cables back, the computer booted up, but the screen remained black—no error messages appeared.
I also checked the HDMI and DisplayPort cables without any changes, and reinstalled the GTX 1080 Ti. Each time I swapped the cards around, the problem repeated with black screens. Could this be related to the cable swap?

Include the age of the PSU, along with its make and model. Also, mention the BIOS version for your motherboard at this time.
Could the cable swapping have affected the 1060s video output? Are you referring to the power cables from the GPU to the PSU or the display cables from the GPU to the monitor?
If you connected a cable from another PSU brand or model to link the card, then yes, you could have definitely damaged it. PSU cables aren't universal; they need to match compatible power supplies. For instance, using an 8-pin from a Corsair PSU and connecting it to a Thermaltake PSU might have caused the card to fail.

SSD - Samsung 990 pro 2tb with heatsink
HDD - 2 x WD Gold 2tb
GPU - GTX 1080ti FE
PSU - Corsair RM750
Case - Uncertain if it's SAMA or SAIVIA atx
OS - Windows 10 Pro
Monitor - 2 x MSI 24 inch
The PSU is approximately three years old. The BIOS version is F15 dated 13-11-2021.

The cable I purchased was Corsair, though I'm not sure if it matches the same model as the PSU in my setup. I've used a generic 8-pin male adapter (which can be split to 2x4 pins) to a plug that splits into 6 and 2 pins because the GTX 1060 has a 6-pin female socket. I spent some time trying to fit the 8-pin (2x4) into the GPU. If the GPU were damaged, wouldn't Windows not boot at all?

I’m hoping Nvidia will offer a price reduction for the RTX 5080ti when it launches, similar to how they did with the 4080 Super.
In my area in Indonesia, I can find a PROART 4080 Super for about 22 million Rupiah (2200AUD).
5080 models are priced the same, though there are no ProArt versions. I don’t want something too large with RGB effects.
I’ve noticed many bad reviews for the 50-series. Should I choose the 4080 Super instead?
Since I don’t play games much, the fake frame issue isn’t a big concern for me.
My main need is a larger GPU because my 1080ti is limiting my creativity in UE5, as many new rendering features depend on RTX.
