Windows SSD ceased functioning during the night.
The PC would freeze on the motherboard display and fail to boot into Windows. Accessing the BIOS would require over 5 minutes to load. The SSD remained visible in the BIOS as usual. After several attempts to load the SSD, I opted to install Windows on a different drive to check if the faulty SSD appeared in Windows Explorer. During the installation process, I encountered a BSOD with the message "Driver PNP Watchdog." After disconnecting the SSD and trying to install Windows again on another drive, it worked successfully. Once confirmed that the new drive functioned properly, I powered off the PC and reinstalled the SSD, which loaded into Windows but was slow for tasks like opening Explorer. I verified in Windows Explorer that the SSD still appeared, but Disk Management showed only a connection to the virtual disk service. Is there a solution to resolve this problem, or should I consider replacing the SSD?
Drives can fail unexpectedly, sometimes without warning. Replacing them and restoring from backup is how you recover.
