I recently replaced my 4060 with a 9070 XT. I ran DDU before the change and updated the drivers. Since switching GPUs while gaming, my system feels much less responsive, especially when playing in browsers and watching videos, even if hardware acceleration is enabled. This is unexpected, as I didn’t notice performance drops on my older setup. For reference, my CPU is a 7800X3D and I have 32 gigabytes of RAM.
Typically you perform DDU after a GPU swap. Doing it before may require specific drivers so the GPU communicates correctly and delivers video output. It should simply involve repeating DDU and checking the DDU website instructions. For instance, using DDU in Windows Safe Mode if you haven't done so earlier.
It seems you're checking for driver compatibility issues. The version you're using might encounter problems with tabbing in or out of games on certain systems, particularly with multiple monitors. Consider upgrading to the optional 25.6.3 driver, and if that persists, try 25.5.1—running DDU again won't resolve the issue.
I actually performed a DDU in safe mode, then powered down, replaced the GPUs, and installed the updated drivers—exactly what multiple tutorials recommended. None of those instructions mentioned running DDU after hardware changes. I’m considering testing alternative driver versions, and if that fails, I’ll reattempt DDU again, hoping it fixes the issue.
