Connect your local account to your Microsoft account prior to the swap. Additionally, searching for "windows activation after major hardware change" on the official Microsoft website will provide relevant information.

I've turned off mine several times following a mobile OS update. My original license was 7, later upgraded to 10. Each time I submitted a support request with Microsoft. Since it's an upgraded key, it can be more challenging for them—required remote access twice and adjusted the registry while assigning a new key. It didn't affect my Microsoft account; it automatically recorded the change and kept the link to my profile.
