I encountered a minor issue with the new terminal servers I'm developing. When connecting via RDP from my PC to Windows Server 2012, it opens the RDP session but prompts for AD credentials by default. What I need is for typing the server name in Remote Desktop to launch the RDP session and request a smart card PIN instead of using domain login details. We have this functionality working on Windows Server 2008, but it's unclear how to implement it on Server 2012 R2. Although Group Policy has been configured to block other logon methods except SmartCard, users still have to go through extra steps to use a smart card. Can you find a way to make the default request a smart card PIN?

The systems are linked to a domain by default. You may attempt to generate a fresh Certificate Template.
