Hey, your Windows 10 PC is taking a long time to boot now. I've done a fresh install but it didn't help. The machine is stuck in the BIOS press F2 screen. Windows is installed on an M.2 drive from Samsung (500GB), and the disk manager is slow, just showing "Connecting to virtual Disk Service." 3D Mark tests are stuck during system info gathering. Your specs are an i7-6700K, GTX 1070, 32GB RAM, M.2 SSD, 970GB Samsung Z170-P, running on an Asus motherboard.
On Windows I’m not seeing any issues, just that the BIOS time seems terrible. Task Manager shows 336.7 seconds. Nothing in Task Manager matches what I see. In League of Legends I’m running at over 200 FPS, and my Samsung is the boot drive.
that was the initial attempt before a fresh install. nothing else was done. Edit: do you mean replace or just reset the BIOS by pulling it out briefly and putting it back?
It seems your device might be experiencing firmware issues. Consider performing a reset of the firmware settings. There should be an option to clear all configurations. You've already tried changing the CMOS battery, but giving it another go might help. If that doesn't resolve the problem, ensure you're using the most recent firmware release. If the issue persists, you could attempt to re-flash the same firmware version again, though this may not be effective. The prolonged behavior might indicate a stuck state, possibly related to memory training or incorrect RAM settings. You could also swap your RAM modules in various configurations and test them. Running a memory diagnostic might reveal hardware concerns, such as a failing drive. If you're unable to boot, try removing all installed drives to see if the firmware screen appears. Additionally, check if your motherboard displays any debug LEDs and review the error codes during startup. This information should assist in identifying the root cause.
Have you attempted disconnecting all external devices and the SATA drive to eliminate possibilities, and would it be faster to test one at a time?
