I changed my CPU last night and Windows isn’t starting. I have the original license key, but using it caused an error. Can I fix this without buying a new one?

I haven't altered the motherboard. Did you receive an OEM key or a BOX key?

Only the CPU and RAM are modified. It was an OEM key.

You altered the CPU settings and then tried to boot Windows, but it didn’t activate properly. After reinstalling Windows, the issue persisted despite your efforts to troubleshoot online. That approach might have been unnecessary or ineffective.

Purchase a fresh key right away. OEM keys are exclusive to a single device; altering any components marks it as a different or modified build.

It’s disappointing, but buying a new key wasn’t included in your budget. Are there affordable options where you can get working keys after upgrading your PC?
