I reduced my storage to 2.4 GB in Idle now. I currently have 15.8 GB, but during Idle my system was consuming 5.1 GB, which is about 32% of my total memory—higher than ideal. I verified the C drive’s virtual memory setting is Auto, so I kept it unchanged.
1. Open the Start menu by pressing the Windows key in the lower-left corner and type "Startup Apps." Turn off all except Windows Security Notification.
2. Repeat for Background Apps, disabling 3D Viewer, Camera, Microphone, Calculator, Cortana, Films, Mail, Settings, Tips, Weather, Xbox apps, and your phone.
3. Restart the computer. Memory usage dropped from 5.1 GB to 2.4 GB after restarting.
This should improve idle performance.
