I rely on Windows Media Player for my music. I've been using it for a long time and prefer its consistency.

VLC is not worth much, often struggles with subtitles and isn't a top performer. It's one of those buzzworthy products. MPC-HC and BE are significantly superior... Ugh, I completely overlooked those features. You're correct about audio—this tool is decent for that. For music and other sound needs, the classic Windows Media Player is far better. Video isn't a good fit either; it lacks capabilities, has subtitle issues, and more problems overall.

I usually rely on Kodi and VLC. I’m hoping Microsoft updates WMP to support native Blu-Ray decoding, though I’d probably be more surprised than impressed if it did. Also, the weather in my area looks clear for the coming week.
