I was setting up a new 5070 for my friend's computer, but it would freeze immediately after installing the driver. Once frozen, I had to reboot into safe mode and uninstall the drivers, or else the system would crash right after logging in. I've tried several steps: using Windows Update from version 10 to 11, running DDU in safe mode to clear old drivers, and checking the system with CHKDSK. The 5070 worked fine on another machine with the latest driver, and the 6750xt functioned properly too. My PC specs are: CPU R5 2600X, GPU 1070 Ti (previous), 5070 new, RAM Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB, M.2 MSI B450 Tomahawk Titanium, SSD Samsung 860 EVO SATA 1TB, and a 850W PSU. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The alternative system runs on W11 with the newest Nvidia drivers installed. I also attempted to use an older driver on my friend's machine, but it freezes after installation. Additionally, I reset the PC again this time using the 'remove personal file and apps' option, yet the issue continues.

If the GPU functions properly, it suggests the issue might lie with the OS drivers or power supply. I’ve checked most operating systems and drivers, so I’d focus on the power source next. It’s well-built and reputable, but there could be a faulty lead plug. That’s where I’d start investigating further.

I checked the list of available options. Let me know which ones you want to review.

I've attempted to energize the 5070 using a 12-pin HPPWR to 12-pin HPPWR connection and another via a 12-pin HPPWR to PCIe 8x2 pin cable to a HPPWR adapter. The issue continues. During testing with the 6750xt, I connected the 12-pin HPPWR to a PCIe cable. When testing the 5070 in my setup, it was powered through a PCIe to PCIe cable using a PCIe to 12-pin HPPWR adapter.

Running on 572.83 with minor quirks and bugs, no crashes or strange performance (RTX 5070)
