Hi, I installed a Windows update some time ago and later returned to my PC. When I tried to boot, it crashed and displayed a blue screen. I attempted to continue using the USB ISO but received an error about unplugging the media and restarting. After several tries, I couldn't find a restore point or reset option. In safe mode it was very slow, and even after logging in, settings wouldn't open properly. I also tried uninstalling via Control Panel but waited five minutes without any progress. What should I do next?

Disconnect all other devices except your USB and OS drive. Open BIOS settings and adjust your USB to top boot priority. Apply the changes, save them, and restart. It should launch from the installation USB. Ensure the USB was recently created with the media creation tool, not the original purchase one.

You might want to start making copies right now (if you haven’t already), and then simply reinstall Windows. That’s roughly all you need to do. Just keep in mind, you’re not alone—many people have faced this issue before, and Windows can sometimes get stuck for no clear cause.

I’ve saved the entire users folder and other files, but are there additional directories containing personal data that might still hold more of your information?

Did you mean creators update or are you part of the insider preview? The previous three insider previews had several issues, including a setting button that didn’t function properly for some users. You can work around this by opening Cortana and pressing the settings button there.

Oh yeah, It is the creator's update. But I can't get into anything on the taskbar like Cortana or the notifications

Overheating and complete failure are possible outcomes.

It looks like the problem hasn't been resolved yet. First, I'm not sure if you have other options besides the users folder for backing up your files—don’t know where everything is stored. At this stage, the only solution is a reinstallation. Don’t worry, a fresh OS can be helpful while you wait for another Windows update.
