I've attempted all possible fixes. But it functions differently on another account. For instance, I created a test user and the search worked perfectly—just share the logs if you need help. I installed a fresh 5600x and ASUS TUF B550M-plus, everything was fine. Once the drivers were set up, I played a game of Cold War Zombies, closed it, and the search failed afterward. I don’t understand why it works for others but not for my account. When I pressed the Windows key, the search bar appeared briefly before disappearing; the task manager search also vanished after a crash. It occurred to me recently. Did you encounter any ESENT warnings? You may need to go back a few days. Essentially, just scroll quickly and check for any events marked with yellow triangles.
I cleared all my logs because I was testing various solutions, but I can't confirm it worked.
I've tried every approach possible, yet I haven't received a fresh installation.
Well, don't worry about that. Try to locate a method for accessing Windows updates and then manually verify them. Download and install any available updates. Some might not work properly, while others may appear stuck during the download process. You'll likely be prompted to restart your system eventually.
This issue seems linked to a faulty update combined with a company that blocked automatic updates using your product key. If the search feature isn't functioning, you might need to explore the control panel for updates. Patience is key—restart your PC several times until the search works again.
I just wanted to check if ESENT warnings are appearing, possibly related to update problems. It's been really stressful on my mind.
I've looked into the updates too; even using Windows Update.exe, I had to reactivate Windows after my 4th month and CPU upgrade from Intel 8600K and Z370M to ASUS B550M 5600X. What bothers me is it functioned normally before then but crashed after a game and stopped working afterward.
Search for "command prompt" in the Start menu, select "run as administrator," and accept the prompt. In the popup, click 'yes' and enter 'sfc/scannow.' Wait for the scan to complete, then save your changes, close all applications, and restart your computer.
Another approach: perform a full Windows reinstall.
If you're still on Windows 10, upgrade to Windows 11, then revert to version 10 (unless you prefer staying on 11)—this may help fix corrupted files.
I'm still trying to figure out what's happening with Windows lately. Three months ago, after a Windows install, I experienced these problems for about five years without any issues. The last time it occurred was after quitting Red Dead Redemption 2. Updates helped most of the time, but I'm not sure if they fixed it completely. I've tried many things—checking memory errors, running scans, updating drivers, even suspecting my SSD might be failing. I thought my storage device could be the problem and hope Microsoft addresses this soon. It seems to be connected to groove music, Cortana, and the default video player. I really wish you can find a solution.
Also before I forget though . Not a garuntee that it will work but I've read that it helped some people with similar issues . Try running hitman pro
