I mean the issue is when icons fail to load, task bar doesn't appear, and task manager isn't accessible. I mainly switch between desktop and programs using ctrl+alt+tab. Chrome and word documents still function properly, though file sharing features don't work and word crashed when opening old files. I'm unsure if it's a restart needed since the system might not boot, but at least I can send important files via Gmail while it's running. Could this be ransomware? If yes, what steps should I take? This isn’t my computer, but I know it’s using Avast Premium and the owner hasn’t visited suspicious sites. The laptop is an Asus VivoBook F412D with the latest Windows 10 updates. Any advice would be appreciated.
