Windows Installer fails to detect the M.2 boot drive.
Hello, I've been assembling a fresh system and everything has proceeded without problems until now, with Windows 11. Hardware: Board: Asus Prime B450M-A II (BIOS version 3802) CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 2x8GB PSU: Corsair CX750F RGB M.2: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 250GB The system works perfectly with Windows 11 and all components are fully compatible. I successfully installed and booted using my SATA SSD. For the M.2 drive, when I start the installation from USB it appears and allows a clean wipe before proceeding, without issues. However, upon restarting, the drive doesn't show up in the boot list unless I enable CSM in legacy mode, after which it warns about incompatibility with CSM On. I also tried Windows 10 and encountered the same problem. In my BIOS, M.2 appears empty in the SATA devices section, yet it shows in the boot order under CSM. I've connected the M.2 to another device, run SMART checks, performed surface tests, and found no errors or faults. The most I've managed is formatting the USB drive and viewing it under MBR, which appears without using CSM, and I can still complete the installation. But when I select it as the boot device during setup, it loops back to the installation screen. On the pictures you'll see a Toshiba HDD, which I've also used for troubleshooting. I managed to install Windows 11 on that drive without trouble. I'm completely confused here. Please share any additional images if possible. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. This is during the installation process, as shown it appears and I can select it to finish the setup. With CSM enabled, I see the drive but selecting it again just takes me back to the setup. In the BIOS it says M.2 isn't listed, yet it still shows in the boot order?
