Hey everyone, I’m having an issue with my monitor’s HDR behavior in Windows. I’m using a Gigabyte AORUS FO27Q2 OLED, which supports 1000 nits peak brightness when APL is set to “High.” I’ve already gone through the Windows HDR Calibration tool and saved a profile correctly calibrated for 1000 nits. However, every now and then, Windows seems to randomly revert to treating my display as if it only has 465 nits peak brightness. This messes up the HDR experience quite a bit. To temporarily fix it, I have to select a different HDR calibration profile and then switch back to the 1000-nit one — then it works fine again… until it doesn't. Any idea how I can make Windows consistently recognize the 1000-nit capability without randomly defaulting to 465 nits? Is this a known issue with Windows HDR or something specific to OLED displays or this monitor? Appreciate any help!

I've been using HDR continuously for about two and a half years on my LG C2. When checking Advanced Display settings, the peak brightness shows around 3500 nits, but after a reboot it returns to normal. The calibration tool has set it to 800 nits. There are many technical quirks with Windows and HDR, so I haven’t been too concerned—when the numbers seem strange, the display still looks good. I haven’t explored much beyond that. It seems unlikely we’ll discover a specific solution.
