Windows frequently restarts Firefox following a power cycle.
As the title indicates, Firefox tends to restart itself... I prepared for sleep by closing all active windows and turning off two screens, then went to bed. The PC remained on. [Let's skip the debate about what's best for a PC—this has happened before, I forgot the T-Shirt]
When I woke up, I turned on my screens and found myself with either one or all of my Firefox windows maximized, or even on the wrong screen. I moved everything back, and then it was over until I turned off the screen again.
The only possibility that comes to mind is that paused YouTube videos might trigger the need to restore those windows... But no, you're right.
I looked for answers myself, but honestly, what should I search for? Hah.
Is there something specific about YouTube that causes Firefox to behave this way? Or perhaps another perspective?
Almost a moment ago I realized; only Firefox moves around to one screen or maximizes it—no other windows are open. Thanks for reading.
Does your firtefox configuration enable restoring the prior session?
Windows struggles to manage multiple screens effectively. Often, when you shut down one screen, Windows relocates all open windows (and desktop icons) to another screen. This behavior doesn't impact minimized windows, but that's what's causing your issue.
I tried this during the day by turning off individual screens to observe how Windows handles open windows.
I also face similar problems with my overnight jobs. If they finish without issues, everything seems fine, but if errors occur and screens stay active, it usually means they're on the wrong screen in the morning. It appears to depend on the order of powering off and turning on the screens...
