I completed the setup of my first computer about a week ago and have been experiencing some problems with the RAM and starting up into Windows. Initially, everything worked perfectly after installation. A few days later, I enabled XMP in the motherboard BIOS and encountered a BSOD, which I then turned off. After that, everything functioned normally.
Recently, I tried adjusting the RAM speed again using "System Memory Multiplier" and set it to DDR4-3600, but Windows still wouldn’t boot properly. I followed various troubleshooting steps and tested numerous configuration combinations, yet the issue persisted. Now, whenever I exit BIOS or restart into Windows, I’m greeted with an AORUS "Preparing Automatic Repair" followed by "Diagnosing your PC," and then prompted to go through an "Automatic Repair" screen.
I updated my BIOS from F4 to F9 and reinserted the RAM. At this stage, I’m unsure what to do and am concerned about causing further damage.

- Intel® Core™ i5 processor 14600KF
- EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING (used)
- B760I AORUS PRO DDR4 (rev. 1.x)
- OLOy DDR4 RAM 16GB (2x8GB) White Blade RGB 3600 MHz CL18
- Seasonic Focus SGX-650 (2021)
- Crucial P3 Plus 1TB PCIe Gen4 (CT1000P3PSSD8)
I completed a System Restore in the Advanced options part of Windows Advanced Repair, yet I haven’t reached my ideal RAM speeds of 3600 (currently at 2133) and XMP remains unreliable.
Add it to your list for a suitable PSU to power the 3080. A good 850w would be ideal.
