Hey everyone, I just completed building my computer. After setting up Windows and installing drivers, software, updates, and restarting it, the system doesn’t seem to work properly. Once the Windows logo appears, I hear the startup sound but get a blank screen with nothing to do. I’ve tried Windows 7 and 8.1, both giving me the same issue. I updated the BIOS to the latest version but still have no luck. I really need some help here. My specs are: Hero Z97 4790k, 780 Ti, 840 EVO, 250 GB SSD. P.S., any tips would be super helpful!

Before you set up the new updates and drivers, was the system running smoothly? You mentioned you attempted both Windows 7 and 8, but both encountered the same issue right after installing the updates. Did you try turning off the computer and then restarting it once you finished the installation of the Windows only?

I've rebooted the system before applying any updates or drivers, and everything functioned properly. Once I downloaded something, it appeared as though it wouldn't start, so I installed the LAN drivers first to ensure internet connectivity, and it still worked after a restart.

after the launch, attempt to set up each driver independently, then reboot after every installation, and identify which one is causing the issue. begin with the graphics card driver.

I finished setting up my new PC and followed the usual steps to install Windows 8.1 and the necessary drivers. Once everything was running smoothly, I tried launching something simple like Google Chrome or an update, then restarted the system. The issue persisted—Windows didn’t respond properly after the desktop logo appeared. I repeated the process multiple times and even tried Windows 7, but the same problem occurred. After a full restart following a one-time installation, nothing changed. I’ve also noticed that even just installing Chrome and restarting doesn’t fix the problem. P.S. I recently updated my BIOS, but I’m still struggling to get it working. This machine feels like a beast now.

I completed setting up my computer and added Windows 8.1 along with the LAN drivers. Once minor updates like Chrome or other patches were applied, the system didn’t function properly. After launching Windows, the logo appears but nothing operates. I attempted to open Task Manager via Ctrl+Alt+Del, but it returns a blank screen and closes when I press Esc. I’ve tried restarting after each driver install and even after switching to Windows 7, but the problem persists. P.S. I updated the BIOS settings: z97 hero 4790k, 780ti, 840 evo, 250gb, Corsair 16gb, 2400mhz.

It seems the SSD might be disconnected from the PC, possibly due to the SSD or the motherboard. Try connecting it to a different SATA port. You could also use the ASmedia SATA controller, even though it's slower; if it resolves the issue, the problem likely lies with the motherboard. Also, check the SSD using Samsung Magician—it might indicate the drive isn't functioning properly.

Disconnect your SSD, then reconnect it. If that doesn’t work, try using the ASmedia SATA controller. If neither works, it might be an issue with Windows—you could need to reinstall it. Hope this helps and have a great day!

It seems you're checking your secondary display to confirm its presence. That should help clarify things.
