I've encountered some strange behavior with Windows lately. Sometimes the computer boots up and Windows loads but the screen goes dark without any visible pattern—sometimes it happens every 10 times, other times every other time, and never two at once. Another issue is that when I sign in, entering my password works but then the screen clears before I finish typing it. Occasionally, when I log in, it loads slowly, taking over a minute for the letters to appear, and even slower while animations run at a fraction of a frame per second. Everything seems inconsistent but not completely random. I've tried JRT and Windows Defender, but neither performs well. With limited funds, I can't afford better software. I'm really confused and usually solve problems quickly without tools. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Typically, when it comes to slow performance or frequent crashes, simply reinstalling Windows usually resolves the issue without much trouble. Iv never experienced problems like the ones mentioned—startup and loading were normal. It turned out the problem was a faulty SATA cable that was disconnected.

It's been a couple of weeks since I encountered the logging issue. The search problem likely occurred about two months ago, which was the last time I searched right away. I'll look into the SATA cable next.

Launch the admin prompt and input sfc /scannow. The tool will detect issues with Windows. If no errors appear, further problems may exist.
