Windows enters a temporary profile, causing persistent problems.
Hi, the problem you're facing involves PCs frequently logging into temporary accounts, causing some to run continuously. Each time I try a fix—like a registry adjustment or copying account data—it only helps temporarily before the issue resurfaces. Reinstalling Windows seems like a straightforward fix, but it's not feasible right now due to certain constraints. I'm not an IT expert, and I'm looking for someone who has encountered this issue and found a solution. The machines are part of a domain, and I'm unsure if it's related to updates or other factors. Many updates had to be paused because keeping the systems online was necessary. I'd appreciate any advice on stopping this from happening again.
It’s likely you should collaborate with your organization’s IT team to address the issue. There could be additional factors at play that you’re not aware of.
Is the account a temporary one or a profile? They are often confused, especially with connectivity problems. A temporary account is likely caused by corrupted local PC data.
Sorry, I wasn't clear on this. It's a temporary profile. I can log in with my account, but my data is stored in C:\Users\account-name and I'm currently using C:\Users\TEMP.001 or whatever is set for my AppData, settings, and other account-related files.
I'm connected with the IT team; we're on opposite sides of the same puzzle. I work as a technician, and they don't seem to grasp what's happening either. The issue has lingered for over a year. Plus, the recent departure of the main IT person hasn't been updated yet, so I'm trying to tackle it on my own.
