Check if the M.2 is detected in BIOS, and look for any error messages or issues in system tools. Try booting from a different USB port or using a different operating system to see if it appears. If it still doesn’t show up, the drive might be failing internally.

Does your board have a secondary M.2 slot? Which motherboard and M.2 device are you using? Some boards, such as many B450 models, only accept PCIe drives in the main M.2, while the secondary slot is limited to SATA M.2 devices. Conversely, if you purchased a SATA M.2 drive and the slot only supports PCIe M.2 devices, it won’t be recognized physically.
