Windows Defender was causing performance issues in certain games. I attempted exclusion mode but it didn’t help. Core isolation remains disabled, yet disabling screen protection resolved the problem completely. I've checked many titles. Is this a known issue or a bug? It’s frustrating having to toggle settings constantly—no exceptions seem to work. Any suggestions for alternatives?

What are the specifications? Are you running games or other tasks on an HDD?

Do you mean real time protection? Or do you mean Smartscreen? Smartscreen of what? What is your CPU usage while gaming? And in task manager, how much is Defender taking up the CPU usage? List specs as well.

Absolutely real-time performance varies across games. BF2042 delivers strong load handling, while certain Deadlock versions reduce it significantly. The Defender consistently shows 0-1% success rate, yet it still enters the game unexpectedly, which seems to involve scanning files and causing interference.

It seems like everything is functioning at a minimal level, with only a slight load of 0-1%. The issue appears highly unusual, and I'm trying to figure out how to address it. I understand the challenge, but I'm struggling to locate an effective resolution.

Consider exploring DPCs and IRQs more thoroughly.
