Uncertain if it's feasible. This m.2 nvme drive was recently used at a storage facility. After switching to a B550 motherboard, we used it as a systemndrive and installed Windows 10. However, after a few shutdowns or two, it stopped booting. We attempted repairs multiple times but failed. Eventually, we switched to the x870 board. Installation on the nvme worked until a reboot caused the same issue. Repair attempts were unsuccessful. Recently, the x870 arrived with Windows 11 installed. It functioned properly until another reboot or shutdown. Still no resolution. I didn't repartition it but formatted it. I mentioned it might be corrupted, but I'm unsure if the nvme is damaged.

It's unusual that the 3 times you attempted to install Windows on it, something has failed either immediately or during the process. This issue doesn't occur with a 10-year-old WD500GB 2.5" SSD or Samsung 970 250GB 2.5" SSD.

If you experimented with three different boards and the problems disappear when switching to a new SSD, the problem must be with your SSD. Luckily, one tb is now quite affordable.

I own two NVMe storage units. Both experienced failure either while installing Windows 11 or shortly after setup. They were installed as unallocated drives. After attempting to format and install the main partition following the first failure, I wiped the disks and tried again, but the same issues persisted.

Bios was updated, motherboard, CPU, and RAM are all new. I decided to install on the older SSD and everything functioned properly for roughly two weeks. There were no errors during boot, no blue screens, and no Windows repair attempts.

I also unplugged all other drives during installation. Later, after checking both units with an NVMe adapter, they appeared to be in good condition. I performed surface scans on each, but now they are clean. I’m hesitant to reinstall them, as they’re completely wiped. Instead, I plan to use them as storage and keep the 500GB “old” SSD for Windows. Ideally, I’d prefer a 1TB drive.

I ran a sfc /scannow from the command prompt on my laptop during testing. It confirmed the drives were healthy. However, after scanning, this one also showed corrupt files, similar to what appeared in the desktop environment. I’m eager to investigate what caused these issues and how to resolve them.

But what’s the likelihood that two otherwise good drives would encounter this problem? It happened with the previous motherboard as well—two motherboards, two disks, all facing the same issue.

I might use a different USB drive and start downloading the Windows again.

I've been utilizing the same MCT and USB on the drive where Windows is installed. Everything is functioning without any issues.
