Today my brother approached me since his computer isn't starting correctly—it boots into Windows but gets stuck during loading, with endless spinning dots. (It's Windows 10 too.) Sometimes it triggers an automated repair prompt, but once loaded it freezes, displaying the cursor on a black screen and nothing else visible.

He might have something valuable that’s worth preserving. If not, it seems easier to reinstall Windows. You could also attempt to fix the issue using a USB drive. Begin by generating a Windows 10 installation media or recovery disk, then start your computer via the BIOS and choose Repair Your Computer.

We managed to remove as much as possible, yet the item he’s after remains a font. We don’t know where it’s saved. EDIT: Windows handled the automatic fix, but it wasn’t visible. The relevant drive is a 2TB HDD.
