Windows 8.1 update now mandatory
I continue using Windows 8, not 8.1. It works well, though I notice the 8.1 upgrade is now being pushed to more users. Is this happening to everyone with Windows 8 or just a specific group?
In the Microsoft Store, purchasing version 8.0 requires obtaining the 8.1 update first.
It's an improved version, available for all 8.0 users. The new features are a significant upgrade and come without any cost. I understand your concerns, especially after the previous update, but this latest release offers better performance and functionality. If you'd like more details on the changes, I'm happy to assist.
Since things operate as they should, I don’t feel the need to alter anything.
You're unlikely to see significant differences. It's not as if you're switching to Windows 10.
It's not possible to be forced into version 8.1 since it's considered an upgrade, similar to moving from version 7 to 8.
The system will reboot in 14 minutes for updates, and it will reinstall on Windows 8.1
