I plan to replace my CPU, which will require reinstalling the operating system. Would it be more cost-effective to purchase Windows 8.1 Pro or upgrade to Windows 10 Pro?

Proceed with purchasing the newest OS release. Outdated programs aren't worth the effort.

I opened my Twitter feed around 5 minutes ago and saw a link from TechWorm. I’m leaning toward Windows 8.1 and think it’s best not to upgrade right now.

It seems like you're considering Windows 8.1. Would you like more details about it?

I'm navigating the actual EULA step by step, just to confirm. My Twitter is getting a lot of attention right now... EDIT: following the link for reference: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/Useterms/...nglish.htm

Purchase Windows 7 and get an upgrade. It’s the most affordable option available.

I’ve noticed the details after staying up a bit longer. The initial article is accurate, though it applies mainly to the insider program. The regular Windows 10 version sold in stores offers similar privacy features compared to earlier releases.

As long as you don’t participate in the insider program. (It’s really a good offer, at least from what I understand—it seems they’re just giving you free software in exchange for something personal.)

Plan for an 8.1 update, expect a few weeks and note that version 10 may have some problems at launch.
