You'll also have to purchase or install a startup menu application like Start8.

If you're using Windows 98.1 now, it's fine. You can also hold off until Windows 9x releases in 2015 if needed.

I'm on hold for Windows 9. Seeking a genuine version for the first time in years... Hope it works out!

No clear justification exists; it seems unusual.

Windows 8 is a mess, the start menu is a nightmare, and Microsoft seems to be doing something sinister.

I just moved from 7 to 8.1 and am really impressed. It feels much more seamless overall. I saw a noticeable improvement in everyday window browsing. The start menu works perfectly—no major problems there either.

there are distinctions but 8.1 has its merits. there are two groups of users who remain with win7: those who resist change and dislike the evolution, and those who simply don’t want to upgrade. it’s likely that about 95% of critics assess windows 8.1 based on its appearance.

Never once have I ever had to wait for an update in the entirety of the time that I've had windows. When I haad a Mac I had nothing but problems with their bullshit installation process. Most notably the fact that if you get too far behind in upgrades you can't catch up because they force you to purchase every single upgrade but they stop selling them
