I focus on Windows 8.1 and 8. I've tried several versions, but Windows 8 Pro seemed to perform best. People often say it's bad, but after installing it on an Asus Z77 MB last summer it ran smoothly. That changed when I upgraded to 8.1. The cost of Windows 7 Pro is high in my area, so I'm thinking about purchasing the free update. This update doesn't include all the features I expected, and I can't confirm my account details. Also, it doesn't support DirectX 11.1 even though my GTX 780 is an 11.1 GPU. Microsoft claims they're improving the desktop experience to attract gamers and hardware fans, but I've noticed Windows 8 has more issues now compared to Windows 8.0. ..."That's why you should have gotten Win 7."
You mentioned no issues with DX11.2 and confusion about features I read but couldn't get. Could you clarify what exactly is bothering you about version 8.1?
I’m expressing that after complaining about Windows 8 Pro, I would have defended it for its speed and stability. Many people just give it a try without giving it a second thought, mainly because they heard negative things. Once I got the 8.1 Free Update, opinions changed a bit—I found some issues like screen glitches in games. Those problems were similar to what happened when Shadowplay first launched, though they were eventually fixed. Maybe it wasn’t meant that way. Windows 8 Pro was strong, and if the updates keep bothering me, I’d consider going back to Windows 8. It’s possible that even after the update, it might not work well. Wouldn’t you want the best version you paid for?
