I recently upgraded my hardware a few weeks ago. My old SSD failed about six months ago, so I swapped it out for a WDB HDD running Windows 8.1. I purchased a new Samsung 840 Pro SSD for my current setup but am unsure how to remove Windows 8.1 from the HDD and install it on the SSD. The SSD is currently running Windows 8.

Consider starting from the SSD and aiming for Windows 8. Then upgrade it and replace the old drive. Alternatively, wipe the SSD and use a cloning or boot setup tool to move data onto a new drive.
