Windows 8.1 isn't able to locate the recovery partition.
Windows 8.1 isn't able to locate the recovery partition.
I’m trying to clarify the issue I’m facing. My Asus N56vb-s4016 notebook came with Windows 8 and a recovery partition for Windows 8. I updated to Windows 8.1 about a year ago, but now I need a factory reset. I should press F9 during startup to initiate the reset, but it doesn’t work. I’ve looked into it and found that the system isn’t able to locate or use the recovery files. The files are stored on a 20GB HDD partition, which is still present but inaccessible. If anyone else has encountered the same problem and had a solution, please share it! Thank you ahead of time.
When Windows 8.1 cannot locate the recovery partition, you should rely on the backup program linked to your ASUS device that was probably set up during purchase. Removing this software will prevent access to the recovery partition. The program might be hosted on the ASUS site, offering an installation option. Reviewing its documentation can clarify if the recovery partition is supported in 8.1.
