Since purchasing an SSD (Samsung 850 EVO 250GB), I've experienced occasional freezes. After moving my Windows and files from an old HDD to the new SSD, any assistance would be greatly valued.

You haven't modified any other settings. Was the previous hard drive failing or were you simply opting for a faster upgrade? If the latter, you might have backed up files more often due to the drive handling heavy workloads.

I would perform a fresh setup on the SSD... Changing the files often causes these kinds of problems.

I can keep it as a final option. I’d prefer not to waste effort unless there’s another way. Any alternative advice would be greatly valued.

You duplicated your storage device. That’s the core issue. The main challenges are: 1) HDDs and SSDs function differently. 2) Cloning lacks error correction during the copy. 3) There’s no built-in data verification. At least I haven’t encountered software offering that. Cloning achieves high reliability only when both drives match perfectly. The best approach involves creating a full image of the drive and installing it elsewhere, which is very slow if you’re working with one unit. This could take longer than rebuilding everything from scratch. It works well for setting up identical configurations across many machines, like 100 identical setups. You’ll also need ample storage space to hold the image file, possibly requiring an additional drive.

A lot of time is spent on backing up and installing everything again after the fresh download and setup. It seems like I need to do it. Thank you for your help—I’ll go with a fresh install.
