I'm using a Windows 8.1 machine with 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 RAM. When usage exceeds 10GB, I encounter errors like "close X program to prevent memory loss." Usually Chrome or Java (especially Minecraft) is the culprit. I tend to ignore these warnings since I have ample free RAM, but crashes start after reaching the 10GB threshold. The "Whoa Chrome crashed would you like to relaunch" message and Minecraft's crash report in the console don't make sense. I thought my RAM might be faulty, so I ran MemTest86 overnight and it passed all tests. I adjusted the page file settings but didn't see improvement. Looking at similar forums, several users reported issues with memory warnings and crashes—could there be a conflict or driver problem?

I frequently encountered that issue and resolved it by clicking right-click, selecting properties, then advanced system settings, choosing performance, and navigating to the advanced tab.

That action adjusted my paging file to an unusually large 32GB, which might seem excessive given only 16GB of RAM, but it worked fine. After rebooting, everything seems to function properly.

Consider opening “task manager” and choosing the “startup” section. Turn off apps that significantly affect startup speed by right-clicking them. Run CCleaner to remove history, temporary files and caches that could assist.
