Hi, recently my Windows 8.1 laptop began experiencing these unexpected freezes while I was using it. I can move the mouse but can't click anything or switch tabs. Even other apps I've opened or the start menu don't respond. It only seems to stabilize when I open Task Manager and restart the Explorer process (like when the system freezes). No one else seems to have this issue, or do you know what it might be? I assumed it could be a recent Windows update since it wasn’t like before, but auto-updates are disabled.

Details about my PC: i7-4710, 8GB RAM, Evo 850 SSD, AMD M265X processor.

Is anyone there? It just occurred again now =/ It's super frustrating and I'm completely confused about what might be happening.

It occurs similarly to me, but only when I stop using the computer for some time... Never when I'm actively working on it.

Admin command prompt after Sfc/scannow will display the input. It may show errors if there are issues during the scan.

I attempted the fix on the MS site using the command "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" and it resolved a "component store corruption." I also ran several malware and virus scans, and no threats were detected. It hasn't occurred again, though I'll monitor it over time to confirm.

The issue persists despite having many tabs in Chrome. Freezing extends beyond Chrome and prevents accessing the Start menu. Using Ctrl+Alt+Del opens Task Manager, which temporarily resolves the problem. It appears the problem lies within Windows, though pinpointing the exact cause remains unclear.

Attempted to reinstall Windows 8.1 without a full clean install; it only installed system files while leaving personal files behind. The issue persists. Might this be connected to the laptop brand or hardware components?
