Windows 8.1 becomes sluggish when you wake up from sleep.
Essentially, your computer runs perfectly throughout the day until you shut it down and restart it. When you turn it back on, everything seems normal—desktop loads, mouse, keyboard, and screen appear. The only way to get it working again is a hard restart.
This issue began after installing new RAM. Despite everything being installed correctly and registered as 16GB, the system only shows codes 30 and A0. Code 30 indicates waking from sleep, while A0 seems to mean everything is fine. There are no signs of memory failure or errors.
The only recent hardware change was the RAM installation. I’m not sure if the hard drive initialization is the cause, since my OS runs on an SSD. The specs are listed in my profile, but this behavior is really puzzling. Thanks for your help!
Running the Power troubleshooter can assist in fixing the problem. Method 1: Open the search box with Windows logo + W, type "troubleshooting," press enter. Click System and Security, then Power. Method 2: Press Windows key + X, select Device Manager, click on keyboard to view it, right-click and go to properties. Select Power management, check "Allow this device to wake the computer," then try again.
I must admit it's frustrating, but both my keyboard and mouse were reported as fixed, and the power troubleshooting didn<|pad|>.
Sleep issues often stem from driver or hardware faults. Start by opening the command prompt with admin privileges, then run: Cd C: After that, execute powercfg -energy and a report will appear in the C:\ folder. Check for any errors. Initially, disconnect all USB devices and peripherals except keyboard and mouse to determine if the issue persists. If it remains unresolved, the problem likely lies with your hardware driver or the device itself. Once fixed, test each USB device individually until you identify the culprit. If it still doesn’t work, try connecting it to a USB 2.0 port and check for firmware updates from the manufacturer’s site. If necessary, uninstall the current drivers and reinstall the latest version.
