Hey there, tech enthusiasts! I assembled a PC for my dad using some spare parts and the G3258 specs you mentioned. The setup includes a MSI Z87-G43, Intel Pentium G3258, 4GB RAM, 640GB WD Green, and an 80+ 530W PSU. I also tried a Toshiba 1TB drive. After installing Windows 8, the installer asked me to restart, but once I did, my screen went black and stayed that way. The PC still works but won’t power on or shut down properly. I’ve checked using just one RAM stick, connected everything correctly, and used a USB drive and DVD. I even reset the CMOS. This is frustrating because I wanted to hand it over last week so he could start working. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Hey Senzelian, Are you able to get into BIOS without any issues? Did you try swapping the boot order so you have the HDD on the top? Is the PC able to boot without the bootable install drive (DVD or thumb drive)? I would try that OS version on another PC to see if the problem is with the OS or the computer itself. I would also try installing other OSs to see if the computer is able to boot into a OS at all and possibly test all the parts if they are working correctly. Do you have any error codes or beeping sounds coming from the motherboard? Do you have all the drivers for the hardware parts for the motherboard and the latest BIOS? Captain_WD.
I can access the BIOS without issues. I changed the boot sequence. The operating system version functions correctly. I installed it on my primary computer using a USB stick and a DVD. Both methods caused the same issue. There are no error messages or alarms; the motherboard lacks both a display and a speaker. I plan to update the BIOS. The main challenge is that I can't even install Windows, and the PC doesn't restart at the expected time. All I need is for it to start properly then everything should work.
I don't believe MS will assist me right now, though it could be worth considering. Appreciate the support. P.S. You're welcome!
