Hi, I work with a lot of video editing and I’m currently using Windows 7. I’m curious if switching to Windows 8 would be beneficial since it offers improved performance. My editing tasks are fairly standard—just capturing footage and applying effects in After Effects. Here’s what my system looks like: Intel core i5-4430 with 16GB Corsair Vengeance LP RAM, an ASUS GTX 760, a Samsung 840 series SSD with 120GB storage. I’m new to hardware, so feel free to skip any technical details.

Yeah, it doesn’t seem like much. I keep using Windows 7 even though I have a Windows 8 license.

It won’t offer much improvement in performance. The main boosts come from using synthetic options. I’d skip it and consider switching to Windows 10 only if a new version is released.

I’m keeping Windows 7 as suggested by the previous person. From what I know, Windows 10 would be similar to Windows 8, and Windows 7 would match what Vista should have been.

Unless you find a way to save a lot of money or nothing at all, keep using W7 right now and hold off on upgrading until W10 comes out.
