Windows 7 startup issue - problem with updating settings
Hey everyone! I just reinstalled a brand new Windows 7 on my SSD, and it ran smoothly the first time I booted it up. But yesterday the system kept downloading about 550 MB of updates, installing them all, yet whenever I tried to start, it kept showing the "updates being installed" message but stuck at phase 5 around 90% with an error about configuring updates and deleting them. The tricky part is that I never see that error screen, no matter how long I wait. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
Stay on the "Error Configuring Updates: Rolling Back Changes" screen until Windows begins (may take up to 10 hours) after it starts. Then go to Control Panel → System and Security → Windows Update → View update history. Record every failed update and turn off downloading or installing them in the Windows Update manager. (And if you're determined, disable Windows Updates and Windows Defender.)
