Windows 7 repair
Hello, the situation began when I wanted to test tails to demonstrate something to my classmates. I downloaded tails version 2.0, installed it on a DVD-R (a non-rewritable disc), but it didn’t work. Every time I tried to start up, the screen would freeze and turn white. I figured my laptop was overheating. Still, it didn’t function, so I switched to a DVD-RW and it worked.
Later, I noticed another issue: when I selected the Windows boot manager, nothing happened. Pressing the power button shut it in less than a second (usually longer). To fix this, I tried installing a paid copy of Windows 7 from BitTorrent. However, when I attempted to repair my computer, it asked for a CD from another Windows version.
My PC specifications are: Asus laptop K55N AMD A8 4500M @1.9GHz (original); 8GB RAM (from Hunderay); OS is Windows 7 Ultimate (installed after). Hard drive is 750GB, partition labeled (7) PART NUM / NAME / SIZE / FREE / TYPE: System 100MB, Recovery 900MB, OEM (RES) 3. Data folder is 398.1GB, Primary 20GB, and Recovery 8GB. I’m still unsure how to proceed without losing data.
