I encountered issues with W7 on my old HP 2560P laptop after the SP1 release. From around that time, I couldn't turn it off or restart it properly. The screen would constantly go black with the backlight on and stop responding to any buttons. It seems there might have been a change in the basic Windows drivers, but I can't locate them. The laptop functions correctly with Linux (Lubuntu) or W7 without updates. Someone, could you help identify what might be causing this?

Hello, it appears this might be connected to software matters. There could be driver or BIOS-related concerns. I suggest updating the BIOS. A quick search shows that a BIOS update can resolve problems with battery performance and waking from sleep. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03333068 This should help. If not, consider checking SP2 support. Protocl37

Resolved a problem where the system couldn't restart from Standby or Hibernation in DC mode after inserting a particular card reader. This issue appears only when using Microsoft Windows XP, which I don’t currently run. I’m not starting from standby and am attempting to power off or restart. I’ve been experimenting with this since SP1, with the system fully updated and a fresh installation. The BIOS is up-to-date, but it was downgraded twice just for testing differences in behavior.
